Welcome to the Britton Deerfield Schools!
For the 2010-2011 school year both the Britton and Deerfield school boards voted to adopt a "shared service" plan for their middle and high school students. All middle school students (grades 6-8) attend classes in Deerfield. All high school students (grades 9-12) attend classes in the Britton Building.
The school boards also moved to consolidate the districts. The support was overwhelming and consolidation passed with a vote of 652-174. The school districts officially became one on July 1, 2011 just before Independence Day.

Read moreMrs. Stacy Johnson has been an administrator with Britton Deerfield Schools since August of 2012. She began her duties as Interim Superintendent on November 25, 2015. The Interim tag fell away on July 1, 2017.

David Raft

My name is David Raft. After 32 years in public education, I retired from Saline Area Schools, where I served as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Of those 32 years, 23 were spent in administration, including 14 years as principal at Saline Middle School and Saline High School. My passion is working with young people of all ages.I am married to Trisha (Tucker) Raft, and we have two daughters, Alyssa and Jordan, and two grandchildren, Hadley and Jordan. I am excited to be part of the Britton Deerfield team as Dean of Students and look forward to a great year. Go Patriots!

Michael McAran

Deerfield Principal
Michael McAran has had a long history in public education. Earning a Bachelor’s Degree at Adrian College in 1966, he went on to achieve a Master’s and a Specialist from Eastern Michigan University. He began his career at Fraser Public Schools, teaching social studies and English and coaching freshmen/JV football and wrestling. After graduate school he began his administrative career at Utica Ford High School, followed by positions as assistant principal and athletic director at Tecumseh High School. After seven years he was selected as principal of Sand Creek Junior/Senior High School where he served for 15 years. Returning to Tecumseh in 1998, Mr. McAran served as Middle School Principal and then superintendent. After 9 years in that position, he officially retired; however, to fill a void he was selected as superintendent of Morenci Area Schools.Mr. McAran is now in his 59th year in public education and he is proud to be a Patriot serving as principal of Briton/Deerfield Middle School. He and his wife Judy and their children Michael and Catherine have made their home in Tecumseh. -

Hi! My name is Gibson Wilke, I am the business manager here at Britton Deerfield. I went to BD until the seventh grade, and I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting from Concordia University, Ann Arbor. Outside of work, I love to play soccer and golf, play video games, hang out with my friends and family, and go to the gym. I'm super happy and grateful to be back here, I love the environment and the people here, and I'm excited to learn and grow here at BD.
