  • Dominic Arriaga Head JV Football Coach

    I graduated from Britton Deerfield in 2021, and earned my bachelor's degree from Capital University in 2025. I serve as the Head JV Football coach and teach middle school social studies. 

  • Chris Bearer MS Boys Track Coach

    Hello! My name is Chris Bearer and I teach 5th-8th grade band as well as elementary music/technology at the Deerfield Building. I graduated from Adrian College with a bachelor's degree in Music Education. My favorite interests are music, technology, and the Red Wings.

  • Katelyn Becker Varsity Volleyball Coach

    Katelyn is originally from North Carolina. She has been coaching volleyball for the past four years and is passionate about helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court. This is her second year where she serves as the Varsity Head Volleyball Coach at Britton Deerfield. Katelyn is excited about this season and looking forward to what the future holds for her volleyball program and athletes. 

  • Robert Burciaga Boys Basketball Coach

     I have 20 plus years of coaching experience. I have worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 18 years. I graduated from Madison High School in 2002. I'm married with 1 son and have 2 frenchies. In my spare time I enjoy camping and spending time with my family. Britton Deerfield is small in numbers but makes up for it in toughness and school pride! That is why today is a good day to be a Patriot!

    I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in secondary education (mathematics / computer science) as well as Siena Heights University where I received my Master’s of Arts degree in middle level education.

  • Jennifer Delmotte MS Volleyball Coach

    Hi my name is Jennifer Delmotte, I have a bachelor of Arts degree from Siena Heights University.  I have worked as a Paraprofessional at BD since 2015 and I absolutely love the staff and students.  Go Patriots!

  • Erik Johnson Athletic Director Head Varsity Football Coach

    Erik Johnson serves as the Britton Deerfield Athletic Director, Secondary Health and Physical Education Teacher, the Head Varsity Football Coach and the Head Varsity Golf Coach. Mr. Johnson graduated from Lincoln High School in 1994 and received his bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University in 2000. This is his 11th year at BD and 22nd in Education. A fun fact about Erik is that he has over 100 career varsity football coaching wins! Mr. Johnson enjoys his time at BD, and feels the people truly make our district a special place!

  • Halie Shiels Cross Country Coach

    I am the head coach for the Britton Deerfield High School and Middle School cross country teams. I graduated from BD in 2022 before continuing my education and athletic career at Adrian College, where I competed in both cross country and track & field. I graduated from Adrian College in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design.

  • Kelly Smith MS Girls Track & Field Coach

    I grew up in a small country town called Goodrich. I graduated with my undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University and my Masters in Elementary Education from Liberty University. I am proud to be part of the BD family, go Patriots!

  • Ryan Stetler Assistant JV football coach Assistant Varsity Golf Coach

    Ryan Stetler serves as the JV football assistant coach and assistant varsity golf coach and was the head varsity softball coach.  Ryan graduated from Lincoln high school in 1999 and then began working for Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority where he now is the Director of Maintenance operations. This is Ryan’s 11th year coaching at BD. Fun fact about Ryan is he played football for Lincoln with Mr. Johnson as his coach. Ryan believes strongly that school educators and coaches play a huge role in helping good students become great adults. 

  • Zach Zyla Girls Varsity Basketball Coach

    Coach Zyla graduated from Sand Creek High school in 2018. After high school joined the navy and served in submarines. Concluding his service from the military, attended Adrian College for Sports Management. He has been coaching high school basketball for 5 years now and track for 6 years. 2nd year at Britton Deerfield coaching varsity girls basketball.
