Dual Enrollment Information

Students may request to dual enroll in a college course. Eligibility for dual enrollment is determined via one of these tests:
ACT Plan
PSAT
Accuplacer
These tests determine college readiness and the chances of success in a college course.
Please read the following statements that are part of our dual enrollment form; students and parents must sign the form when dual enrolling.

 I understand that I must be a full-time student at Britton Deerfield Schools. I have been advised that classes in Fine Arts or Physical Education are not eligible courses for dual enrollment funding through Britton Deerfield Schools.

 I understand that I must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in my high school classes to be eligible to dual enroll.

 I understand that I may not be allowed to register for future dual enrollment classes if I obtain a grade lower than a C- on any dual enrollment class, or become unsuccessful due to absences.

 I understand that Michigan law mandates that the college course I choose cannot be a hobby, craft, or recreation course, or in the subject areas of physical education, theology, divinity, or religious education.

 I understand that as a dual enrollment student when my school day at BD ends I am to sign out at the Office and leave school premises. I realize that due to liability and supervision issues, unscheduled students cannot remain in the building.

 I understand that Britton Deerfield Schools is responsible for tuition, mandatory course fees, material fees, and registration fees required by an eligible institution for enrollment in the course up to $528 per class. I am responsible for any remaining charges. Eligible charges do not include transportation or parking costs or activity fees.

 I understand that it is my responsibility to earn at least 25 credits for graduation. This means that it is I that determines which dual enrollment classes HAVE to be counted for high school credit.

 I understand it is my responsibility to determine whether the dual enrollment course I choose will transfer to the college(s) I attend later.

 I understand that it is my responsibility to know the withdrawal policies and timeline for the college that I am attending, and that after these dates, I am not allowed to withdraw. If I withdraw after the last day for a full refund, I will be responsible for the cost of the class.

 I have been advised on and provided a copy of the dual enrollment eligibility standards. I acknowledge that I may be dual enrolling with eligibility scores less than those required for entry level classes by some colleges.

 I understand that if I do not complete any courses, for any reason, that I am responsible for all costs incurred by Britton Deerfield Schools.
